The purpose of this project is to enable text writing using any on-screen pointing device (mouse, joystick, touchpad). Designed for people with reduced mobility or those who find it difficult to use conventional keyboards, VirtualKeyboard integrates perfectly with HeadMouse

A virtual keyboard that predicts the next word, learns from the user and is capable of saving up to 40% of the clicks required to write a text.

VirtualKeyboard uses algorithms to learn the user's writing style, exponentially increasing its success rate. VirtualKeyboard has word prediction functionalities, the algorithms of which learn from the user's writing style and increase success rates exponentially. Tests carried out writing literary texts of between 15,000 and 20,000 words have demonstrated that a saving of up to 40% can be achieved in the number of key clicks required to write these, that is, around 7.000 words less.

It is user friendly and requires no prior training. The virtual keyboard operates as an optimised on-screen application for use by persons with mobility problems.

This virtual keyboard has 5 dictionaries that include the words most commonly used in 4 languages: Español, English, French and Italian. Using automatic learning mechanisms, the system learns new words and is capable of adapting to the user's writing style, optimising prediction of the required word for different contexts: drafting of e-mails, technical or literary texts, etc.

VirtualKeyboard 3.0

This version enhances the previous version of the VirtualKeyboard with the following features:

  • A new function with user-configurable macros has been included. The macros can be assigned to function keys and contain key sequences and orders to execute programs, files and web pages.
  • The keyboard can be moved around the screen simply by clicking on the prediction bar; clicking again releases the keyboard.
  • The transparency of the keyboard can be varied.
  • The colours of the keys can be configured (by blocks of keys).
  • In this version the keys [CTRL] and [Alt] are compatible with the videoconferencing programs that require "click to speak".
  • New operating modes that enable the activation/deactivation of the prediction system and of the learning system that incorporates the keyboard have been included.
  • A configurable sweep system has been included (SweepClick).
  • An automatic key click generation system has been included.
  • A new function that enables the creation of a dictionary from a text file has been included. The file must be in Unicode format to allow the special symbols of each language to be used.
  • The operation of the keyboard with different languages and the method of generating special characters have been improved.
  • It is not necessary to previously uninstall VirtualKeyboard to install (or reinstall) this new version.
  • The program has been globally optimised.
  • etc.
