This R&D&i initiative consists in creating technological aids to guarantee provision of the support that disabled people need to take up employment in a normalized environment.
The project will combine work methodologies designed for disabled people and ICTs to produce innovative solutions designed to help this sector of society join the labor market. The initial methodologies and technologies developed will be as follows:
- Person-centric planning
- Supported employment
- Web technologies and multimedia developed by the University of Valencia
The Social Mentoring project will create new ICT tools to promote supported employment via the website www.miradasdeapoyo.org, which provides person-centric planning.
These tools, which will be defined in the early stages of the project, will include the following:
- ICT aids for career guidance, based on generic descriptions of the most common jobs (office assistant, shelf stacker, fitter, etc.). These descriptions will include the job requirements and duties to be performed.
- ICT tools to prepare resumes with the help of the support group and interview preparation.
- Tools to define labor aspirations and objectives, as well as support plans to achieve them, visual maps of relationships in the work environment, labor skills maps, etc.
- ICT aids for mentoring throughout the disabled person’s working life.
- Coordination between the mentor and employer to resolve any issues in real time. These combined aids will generate a functional support network for the disabled worker, which will include close family, the employer, colleagues and mentor. The network will be tested in experiments during the later stages of the project.
