The "I'm new here" Chair established in partnership with the University of Extremadura is conceived as an interactive web application with multidevice support; in other words, it can be viewed on a computer but also on cell phones and tablets, etc. The tool will enable people who have just joined a company, irrespective of their functional diversity, to learn about the work methods, procedures, occupational risk prevention, location of objects, and the configuration and use of the equipment required to perform their duties.
Everyone will be able to find out details about their workplace on demand. For example, someone might want to find out details from the beginning, someone else when the need arises, and people with cognitive or memory problems may need to check the information several times.
The solution eliminates the need to ask or depend on other people, giving workers greater autonomy with respect to their managers and colleagues, reinforcing their self-confidence, and removing the feeling of inferiority.
Meanwhile, companies will be able to allocate fewer human resources to the task of tutoring new workers with functional diversity because all that these people will need to know is how to use I'mNewHere, which in fact is a web application like the ones that many of them already use through their browser with or without assistive software solutions.
