Emplea-T Accesible, by the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The objective of the project is to provide the visually impaired with an accessible version of the interactive DTT application "Emplea-T", which is broadcast on the program "Aquí hay trabajo", aired by the Spanish channel La 2. It allows users to consult job offers. A prototype of Emplea-T Accesible with voice synthesis was developed in 2007.
Emplea-T-Accesible, which will be available for viewers from December 4, represents a major breakthrough because for the first time in Spain visually impaired people will have a tool to facilitate their access to DTT services and assist their workplace inclusion.
Adaptations: graphics and voiceovers
The visual enhancements are targeted at people with residual vision and different degrees of color blindness. They include the enlargement of the font size in the menu options, the conversion into capital letters of some of the messages broadcast by the application, and changes in the color of the text and background to achieve a sharper contrast between them.
Meanwhile, the voiceovers will assist totally blind people in their search for employment and are activated by placing the spotlight on the different menu options (employment sector, autonomous community in Spain, training required, etc.).
They include a common welcome message for the normal mode and the accessible version of the application, instructions for switching from normal to accessible mode and using the application, and an audio description of the different menus when the position of the spotlight is moved on the screen.
The second phase of the project has just launched and is centered on the specification, prototyping and manufacture of an accessible digital television receiver for people with different types of disabilities.
